In general, the restaurant is nice and clean. The staff are courteous and helpful. The food is pretty good, but limited and a little inconsistent. The maple vinaigrette was quite good. There are three starch options on the entire (somewhat small) menu: € Cheddar Mashed Potatoes € Cheddar Potato Patties € French Fries Note the lack of things like a plain baked potato or rice. Because of this, I downgraded my selection from a $24 steak to a bunless $9 bacon hamburger (swap salad for fries) on the theory that I might get hungry later because of the lack of starch choices. I was also surprised that a restaurant with $9 hamburgers, $24 steaks, and maple vinaigrettes defaults to plain yellow mustard. It's good to have for boring people; but, if you're going to present your restaurant as upscale, please ask me what kind of mustard I want. That was good bacon and it deserved a maple stoneground mustard. One final note. For a "lakeview" restaurant, the shrubs in front of the windows are a bit of a downer. Lower bushes are in order if a view is part of your appeal.

After 7 hours in the rain on a motorcycle we just needed warm bed and a good meal. This place was right next to the hotel so we figured dismiss the poor reviews and give it a try. Well, the reviews couldn't be more correct. This place was terrible! The staff seemed as though we were an inconvenience. We were given a specials menu, I opted for the advertised Rib Eye special. This was met with "We're all out of the Rib eye". How the hell are you the only restaurant between three hotels and you're out of the special at 6 pm at night??? I could go on about the rest of the meal but just not worth the time. Unless you're completely desperate and cannot drive any further, I would suggest you pass on this place. Seems as though this could be a gold mine with the close proximity to the hotels.

I had eaten here four months ago and my husband and I couldn't wait to come back. This time, we walked out. We made the long drive from western NY and was looking forward to another great meal. We both ordered the exact same meals as our last visit. We were given dinner rolls to start that were over cooked and dry. The textured bottom of the rolls told me that they were frozen, prepackaged rolls. My Caesar salad came out mostly brown and wilted. The dressing had no flavor at all, and simply tasted like wet, stale lettuce. My husband ordered the bruschetta. What he received was obviously packaged "toast crackers" -think Melba toast- with unseasoned, soggy canned tomatoes dumped on top. The bread was wet from the tomato juice, but still hard enough that he almost broke a tooth. The tomatoes, were bland, wet and a terrible texture, obviously straight from a can. At this point we decided there was no way we wanted any more food from the kitchen. My husband caught our waitress and advised her of the problems and that we would like our check for our drinks. There was no apology or offer to make anything right, she simply said she would bring the bill over shortly. I didn't want to spend anymore time there so I left some cash to cover my $3 bottled beer on the table. On our way out, the waitress reminded us that someone was ringing up our bill. Definitely not impressed and won't be back.

After attempting to have dinner at no less than four other establishments in downtown Burlington last Saturday night, my sister and I gave up and walked into Lakeview House. This was the one restaurant in the entire area that didn't have a line out the door. It was the night before the Burlington Marathon and runners everywhere were carb loading, myself included. Walking in through the back entrance (the only entrance that makes sense through the parking lot) is a chore in foul weather. The rain pours down off the roof and drenches you as you walk in. If you're a nimble jumper, you will still get soaked. Inside, it's pleasant enough. The bar and tables are cozy and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there is nothing good to say about the food. If you're coming just to have a beer with friends, you'll be fine. Just don't order anything to eat because everything is bland and boring. Specifically the calamari is the worst I've ever had. Not only that but half the plate is actually just breaded garlic. I don't know about you but when I eat calamari, I don't like to be fooled into eating garlic. My main course, shrimp linguine, served its purpose. It filled me up with carbs for my big race the following morning. However, it had virtually no taste. Pepper helped a smidge, I suppose. But the dish was just incredibly disappointing. My sister's meal, a simple burger, was also tasteless. It was shocking that nothing we ate was good. The only saving grace here is that our waiter and other servers couldn't have been more friendly. They are the reason for the two stars. Sadly, their cheerful demeanors could do nothing to improve the food.

Our experience here was strange to say the least. We walked in and were promptly seated by a host/server who had his shirt unbutton with chest hair hanging out....not the typical attire one would see in a restaurant. He seemed a little manic and talked really fast, almost out of control. It took almost ten minutes for someone to greet us. We got wings and soup for starters, both of which were great. The wings were sweet chili glazed and it was a special beer cheese soup they don't normally offer. The wait for the appetizers was about 10-12 minutes, average time. Our entrees then came. I got a Reuben and he got a steak and cheese. Both our sandwiches were VERY dry. Mine had almost no sauerkraut or dressing. His was so bland he put salt and pepper on it (this man NEVER uses either). Overall, the food was poor with the exception of the starters and the service was sub par. I would not go back and wouldn't encourage others to try it either.

This place is one of the few restaurants within walking distance of where I work, and I give lunch a try once a year. I never fail to be disappointed. It honestly feels like they have just given up. There is only one person there at lunch (when I've been there) who acts as host, server, bartender, and busboy. The lunch menu itself is limited and of average quality, but the prices are premium. I feel like this place could be a gold mine if the owners would be more creative with the menu and more realistic with prices. A full restaurant of patrons paying a little less has got to be better than two tables of customers overpaying for their food and leaving disappointed. Come on... you can do better!

Have eaten here several times before and always had good meals. Not so yesterday. We ordered 3 dinners, a NY strip steak which was tough, and 2 blackened snapper specials which were very bland. I also ordered the New England clam chowder which was more like a bacon and potato chowder. I hope they get better because the food has been good in the past. After emailing them about my experience I was contacted by the manager and received a gift certificate to come back and give them another try. I will post the results once this happens. I am hopeful the food will once again be delicious.

Nice bartender, very friendly and attentive. Had a salad...fair at best..worst part was the nasty smell as soon as you walk in...smelled like a men's room...
